Deliberate Simplicity
If you’ve heard me speak or read much of this blog, you know I’m a big fan of keeping things simple. It just seems to work better when I can remember that the message of the Gospel is simple. I fully believe something I saw the other day in a new book from the Leadership Network Innovation Series:
….If we can get God’s people to simple love God and love people, the Church cannot be stopped.
- Dave Browning in Deliberate Simplicity
That’s huge. Simple, but huge. Today I am getting to be a part of a blog tour for Dave Browning, who pastors Christ the King Community Church. I believe Deliberate Simplicity is a very important book for the Church today because I believe people need a clear message of God’s love and grace that can take them from where they are to a place of hope and healing.
I asked Dave to put in his own words what he feels is the one big thing – the whole big ol’ enchilada – the if-you-don’t-get-anything-else-get-this from Deliberate Simplicity. Here’s what he said:
I once heard a businessman say, “Love is a legitimate business strategy.” And really, when Jesus was asked to “narrow it down” that is what he said, too. Love God and love people. CTK has benefited by narrowing our focus to the activities that help us to love God more (worship), love people more (small groups) and love more people (outreach). In the spirit of Mother Theresa, we don’t try to do great things, just little things with great love.
Get a copy of Deliberate Simplicity – read it, share it (or better yet, get several copies and share them). Thanks for writing it, Dave.

[...] I warned you that this “epiphany” was nothing new. After I posted this I found this post on Dino Rizzo’s blog. Share and [...]

Love of those that you work with is also a legitimate leadership trait.
