Make Some Room On The Couch

This past Sunday night I shared a message with Healing Place Church during a vision night that I think really has some truth that can benefit the [C]hurch as a whole.
Think about your couch at home. Comfy. A great place to nap. When you’re alone on it, you can lay down, put your feet up, stretch out, sprawl all over it however you like. But when you have company over, you have to sit up and make room for them to sit by you. When three or four people come in, you may even have to get up and stand – since you’re the host, it’s just proper for you to surrender your place on the couch and let the newcomers have a place.
I believe that those of us who are in the [C]hurch need to be ready to make room for those coming in. Just like it would be silly and even considered rude for you to sit on your couch at home when a guest is needing a place to sit, we must be ready to make room on the couch for those who are just joining in what God is doing.
They comfortable couch with all of it to ourselves is fine, but it can become lonely after a while. If we’ll make room for others to take a place of leadership, to serve alongside us, to join the team – then we’ll experience something we never could alone: the joy of relationship.
So don’t be a couch-hog!

I’ve never thought of it this way. I really like this illustration.
